Ribbon Guide Templates (for 10mm/15mm/20mm and 25mm)
It is important to remember that our resin is typically 55mm wide. When printing on satin ribbon that is for instance 20mm wide, the machine will automatically print in the middle of the resin, thus wasting a lot of resin that could have been used for printing. That is why we designed the Ribbon Guide Templates. These templates will not only help to align the ribbon in the correct position, but it will also ensure the ribbon is printed straight.
The ribbon printing guide is inserted in-between the green clamps that would normally grip your ribbon, below your print head cartridge (that should be lifted up).
Thread the satin ribbon through the second to last guide holes, at the top and front, (start under, thread over and end under)
We have guide template sizes for satin ribbons in 10mm, 15mm, 20mm and 25mm. Anything wider than that can only be done in the centre with the clamps.
Doing your page setup in GoLabel II for the ribbon guide template
You will follow the same steps as detailed in the Page Setup tutorial, until here:
The Page Setup menu defaults to the Media Size tab upon opening.
Page width is the width of the ribbon you wish to print. But when we use our ribbon guide templates, we have to set up the page width as wide as the resin roll we are using (typically 55mm).
Page height is the length of a single artwork (continuous) that you want to design. For this example, let’s use 130mm.
Then, on the artwork design area, we have to manually align the artwork with the position where we thread trough the satin ribbon on the template.
Practice will teach you exactly where to position, but initially do a test print of a single artwork repeat, to make sure the artwork is printed in the centre of the satin ribbon, and it is positioned in the correct place to print on the satin.
