GoLabel | Setup your first print job : Images
Let’s recap:
- Doing your artwork page setup
- Setting up your printer setup
- Adding Text to your design
Let’s start adding images to our artwork
When initially opening the GoLabel II software, it defaults to the a screen where you can edit your PAGE SETUP for a new job. Once that is done, click save, and the label design workspace is displayed.
NOTE: GoLabel is not a logo or graphic design software, it simply allows you to add ready made designed artwork to your design. It is also important to note that you may only use solid spot colour black and white artwork in the software. The black reads as print, and the white will be space. GoLabel cannot read shaded or artwork that is not 100% black.
For this example, se set our artwork area to sizes:
55mm wide x 80mm long for a single artwork repeat. (we will only set up one repeat, and then choose to print multiple repeats. this saves us from alignment issues for multiple repeats designed on one artwork).
To add an image to our ribbon, select the image icon from the left hand tool bar.
After clicking on the graphics icon, move your cursor to where the the graphic will be placed. You will note your cursor changed into an icon.
- Click on the left mouse button to place the cursor for the graphic on the design area.
- The Windows Graphic Menu is displayed.
ON the graphic menu we only have one option:
Click on the file open icon to open a file where you have a graphic stored on your local computer hard drive.
Suitable graphic files will be displayed (pre stored on your computer, in your own specified folder).
Selecting a file will allow a preview to be displayed in the preview section on the open dialog on the right.
When you are satisfied that you have chosen the correct artwork, click on the open button to add the graphic to your artwork area.
The artwork is now displayed in the graphic menu, with a few more editing options.
Let’s start with the Graphic setting tab:
Size:
With a graphic selected, you are now able to stretch the width and height of the image to your requirements,
selecting the fixed aspect ratio, will stretch the height to fixed ratio if you change the width and visa versa.
Style:
Flip allows you to flip the image vertically, horizontally or both (displayed below)
Halftone allows you to change the dithering quality of the image (default is always best)
Color Inverse will create an inverted version of the image, in other words it will change what is black to white, and what is white to black.
When you are satisfied with your artwork changes, you may click on the Basic Setting Tab
ON the Basic Setting Tab, you can rotate the artwork if it is not positioned vertically (to fit on your ribbon in a step and repeat manor.
Typically you only need to rotate a horizontal artwork by 90 degrees to get a good vertical position.
once you are happy with the artwork rotation (if required), click on the OK button to insert the image onto the artwork design area.
Then, using your mouse cursor, position the image on the correct place in your design area the white area). The image can be sized or stretched by selecting a corner of the image (indicated by the squares on each side of the text). Dragging this square will drag the item to a new size. This is not recommended for images, as the original aspect will warp. It is recommended to size your artwork inside your artwork design software.
Lastly, move and size your artwork to the top of the page, allowing enough space for a single space between artwork repeats.
This way, you can simple print multiple units of each artwork with the gap, instead of having to face alignment issues.
Once this artwork layout is complete, follow the steps in the printer setup page, to print the artwork onto your ribbon.
