GoLabel | Setup your first print job : Text
Let’s recap:
- unpacked and plugged in your printer.
- Installed the GoLabel II Drivers and software
- About the Function Menu and the Main Toolbar
- Doing your artwork page setup
- Setting up your printer setup
Now, Let’s start planning our first ribbon design with Text
When initially opening the GoLabel II software, it defaults to the a screen where you can edit your PAGE SETUP for a new job. Once that is done, click save, and the label design workspace is displayed.
For this example, se set our artwork area to sizes:
20mm wide x 80mm long for a single artwork repeat. (we will only set up one repeat, and then choose to print multiple repeats. this saves us from alignment issues for multiple repeats designed on one artwork).
To add text to our ribbon, select the System Text Option. This will display a sub menu for the different text design options;
Windows Text:
This option will allow you to add text using any font installed on your computer to your design. (the font must already be loaded onto your windows fonts file).
- Select Windows Text by clicking on the icon, then move your cursor to where the the text will be placed. You will note your cursor changed into an icon.
- Click on the left mouse button to place the newly selected text on the design area.
- The Windows Text Menu is displayed.
Click on the “sample” text, to change it to your own text;
Once the correct text is edited, click on the return button to go back to update the rest of the font settings
Font Setting
Select the windows font, font type and size.
Aspect Ratio
Fixed text height, with adjustable proportion of text width.
Space Cropping
To remove the space around the text to let the text closer to the edge of the ribbon.
Text Right to Left (Hebrew)
Check this option when use Hebrew to comply with the text input direction.
Rotate at Current Angle
The object can be set 0~359 degree in rotate.
In our example below, I changed the following:
font setting Aerial Rounded,
font style Bold Italic
font size 12
Text rotated 90 degrees
Once you are happy with the changes, click on the OK button to insert the new text onto your artwork design
The text is placed on your artwork design, but can be moved around to a final position. Simply select the text and drag it around by using the mouse controls.
Text can be sized or stretched by selecting a corner of the text (indicated by the squares on each side of the text). Dragging this square will drag the item to a new size.
Lastly, move and size your artwork to the top of the page, allowing enough space for a single space between artwork repeats.
This way, you can simple print multiple units of each artwork with the gap, instead of having to face alignment issues.
Once this artwork layout is complete, follow the steps in the printer setup page, to print the artwork onto your ribbon.
In our next example we will add images to our design.
